The Framework for the E-Commerce field

Having learned about the concepts and types of e-commerce and the new challenges it brings to strategy development, in this article we will lay out a framework that better illustrates how to learn and think about the networked economy. Look at the following figure

In the previous figure, we find that there are four important infrastructures: technology, capital, media, and public policy. It wraps around an organization's strategy and these four infrastructures provide the context—both opportunities and constraints—in which the strategy operates

the process of devising a strategy

Any strategy is linked to six sequential parts: market opportunity analysis, business models, customer interface market communications, branding, implementation, and metrics. To fully understand how these six decision areas are interconnected, we apply them to an e-commerce website at the end of each strategy chapter. Using our secondary analysis of this website strategy and interviews with the company's senior leadership team

Developing Strategic Approaches: The Four Infrastructure Components

The formation of successful strategies stems from a deep understanding of where the market is located, and thus shows cash flow, in the future in the short and long term. The important economic world is the market. Because the market certainly includes the customer who is at the center, the market also includes buyers and sellers as well as the broader forces that shape the nature of exchange in the market. We are of the opinion that there are four critical forces that an e-commerce manager must know and manage if they want an online business to succeed. These four forces are technology, capital, media, and public policy. We review each of these forces and provide a simple explanation

Technology ifrastructure

the Technology ifrastructure of the internet and websites are both enabers and drivers of change. an infrastructure is defined as "thefoundation of a system." in this case, the technological foundation of the internet and websites enables the running of e-commerce enterprises. Understanding technology infrastructure is essential to managing a successful online business. knowing what techology is available ( as well as understanding the tradeoffs involoved ) and then being able to make the appropriate choices so that the website can be a reflection of the company's strategy is critical.
